How many pets go in the portrait?
One pet stands portrait. Two or three sit side by side, landscape.
Facing you, at eye level
- Face turned to the camera
- Head and chest visible
- Good light, no shadows over the face
Avoid: lying down or shot from above
- With no chest in view, the portrait comes out head only
- We cannot straighten the animal up
Avoid: too far away
- The face ends up small and loses detail
- Side on, the gaze does not meet whoever looks at the piece
